Acne Remedies

Acne is the problem, finding a fast, reliable remedy is the solution.  But with so many acne remedies available, how can you know which one is the best for your needs?

So many remedies, so many results

The truth about acne remedies is that no single remedy will work perfectly for every single person.Until everyone's acne starts responding the same way to treatment, we are going to continue with the situation of having so many different acne remedies on the market.Finding one that suits you as an individual could take several attempts.

Below are some suggestions to help you navigate through the process of looking for a remedy to treat your acne:

1.You should start with clean skin. With bacteria being an important factor in an outbreak of acne, it makes sense to concentrate on keeping your skin clean.  Establish a routine of washing your face gently each morning and each evening, using a mild face wash formulated for acne-prone skin.

2.Add an anti-acne formula to your routine.  If washing your face regularly and keeping it clean doesn’t take care of your acne, add in a cleaner or face rinse that contains a bit stronger anti-acne formula.Any formula containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can be considered a good choice. The best approach is to start using the milder formulations and if required move on to some stronger formulations.

3.There are different anti-acne formulas available, try one.  Sometimes you will find your skin doesn’t respond well to a particular acne remedy, or that the formula you used to use no longer works as well.  If this happens then try switching to a different anti-acne formula; for instance, if you have been using salicylic acid try benzoyl peroxide instead, and if you have been using benzoyl peroxide try salicylic acid instead.

4.  See your doctor for other options.  If your acne doesn’t respond to these kinds of over the counter acne remedies, pay a visit to your doctor. An ever expanding range of mild antibiotics, topical creams and gels is available to your doctor to aid you in your battle with acne. The goal for many people is to get their acne under control by using an antibiotic treatment for a few weeks or so and then reverting back to using one of the available, over the counter remedies.

Time, the great healer

Time really is the great healer when it come to acne remedies.Patience is a virtue with most of life's problems and certainly so with acne. After a few weeks a gradual improvement should be visible.Hopefully your patience will be rewarded with an improvement in your condition. If not, or if the improvement is not as dramatic as you would like then move up to the next level of care for a few weeks and monitor the results.

Should you have any negative reaction to the acne remedies you try, stop using them and consult your doctor. There are a great many different acne remedies available, which fortunately for acne sufferers, work in a great many different ways. You could soon be enjoying clean, acne-free skin if you follow this simple recipe. Take some professional guidance from your doctor or dermatologist, mix in a little bit of time, add in the little effort required and reap the benefits your patience deserves.
