There are many types of eczema and they are commonly related to allergic reactions, for example to washing detergents or particular metals (contact dermatitis), and situations where your immune systems overreacts to something and causes inflammation.
Since eczema is rarely caused by bacteria or viruses there is no vaccine available that I know of. However, there are many treatments ranging from weak over-the-counter corticosteroid creams, to stronger creams and oral steroids available from your doctor. You might also find that switching to a fragrance free soap and trying to find laundry detergent for sensitive skin, as well as moisturising with a good unfragranced cream (like sorbolene) may help.
In very serious cases of ecaema drugs that suppress the body’s immune reaction can be prescribed, though this is relatively rare and most people will find that the normal treatments work for them.
