Our 18 month old has never had eczema, or very dry skin. We had our flu shots Monday, by Wed, he has an eczema type rash all over his body and head. Not harsh, just dry looking. We've been using recommended lotions, etc, but curious if it could be due to the shot. He's not allergic to eggs either. The shot FAQ sheet says one side effect could be hives, but nothing about rashes either.

I really dont think it has anything to do with the flu shot. It is almost winter, the winter is very drying to the skin. My 1 year old has eczema. The doctor recommends not bathing them so often as well as to moisturize immediately after getting baby out of the tub. Also, a humidifier will help. If severe doctor can give medicine. The baby typically will out grow it. So they say. I dont know what you are using for it, but dont use cortisone cream on the face for extended amounts of time. It will thin the skin. Just use a very thick lotion I know your kid will feel like a slug, but it works. Good luck. If you have any questions do lnot hesitate to e-mail me janinebat@msn.com.
